Stand-off ends peacefully

Brighton police achieved a peaceful end to a stand-off with two subjects who had barricaded themselves in a Brighton shed earlier this afternoon.

At about 1:25 p.m., Brighton officers were in the area of 255 S. 4th Ave on an unrelated call when officers observed a male subject near a shed in a back yard. The subject is known to officers to have multiple warrants that included attempted homicide. Responding officers were able to ascertain there were two subjects hiding in the shed after they saw officers in the area.

Brighton police units attempted to contact the couple and asked them to exit the shed. Over the next half hour, the couple refused to come out of the shed and surrender to officers. As the situation developed, S. 4th Avenue was closed between Egbert St and Skeel Street for about 1 ½ hours, and South Elementary was placed on a lock-out status as a result of the incident.

At about 3 p.m., the male and female parties surrendered peacefully to officers. 44-year-old Rodney Morales was arrested on multiple warrants, the female was released on scene.
