Gun store burglarized in early-morning hours

Brighton police are investigating the burglary of a local gun shop that took place early Sunday morning in the 100 block of S. 4th Ave.
Police were dispatched at about 5:30 am on Sunday, November 5, to a report of a disturbance near 71 S. 4th Ave.
When officers arrived, they located a male who had been assaulted and needed medical attention; he told police he had been in the back of South Platte Tactical, 29 S. 4th Ave., when he heard noises and ran outside to find several men removing guns from the business. He told officers he had confronted and briefly fought with 1 of the suspects, before being struck by one of the other men.
A witness told officers the suspects left southbound on 4th Ave. in a red Jeep, which was apparently crashed into the business to gain entry. The Jeep was recovered in the 200 block of
S. 3rd Ave. a short time later. It appears the suspects then left the area in a different unidentified vehicle.
Anyone who believes they may have information about this second vehicle being in or leaving the 200 block of S. 3rd Ave. between 5:15 and 6:00 Sunday morning, or who has other information about the crime, is asked to call the department’s tip-line at (303) 655-8740.
