Brighton Acting City Manager Clint Blackhurst announced the appointment of Ryan Johnson to executive director of the Brighton Urban Renewal Authority (BURA) at Wednesday’s meeting. Johnson previously served as the interim executive director.
As executive director, Johnson will oversee a variety of organizational processes that allow BURA to work in cooperation with Community Development, Economic Development, Urban Renewal, Housing Authority and downtown partnership to facilitate quality development and redevelopment projects. Johnson had been serving as interim executive director since Feb. 1. His first day as executive director will be April 21.
Before serving as interim, Johnson served as the assistant director with BURA for eight months. His responsibilities included support and initiation of downtown development, coordination with other existing Downtown organizations and staff members for cohesive services for downtown and act as BURA and Downtown liaison to developers, community members and various governmental entities.
Before coming to Brighton, Johnson served in various capacities with the City of Westminster, City of Commerce City and City of Thornton.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Master of Business Administration in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is also a graduate from of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute, an executive development certificate program that has been the primary professional training program for those in the business of economic development.
