US 85 & Bromley Lane Project

In early November of 2013, the City began a construction project at the intersection of US 85 and Bromley Lane.  The new South Main Street design will reduce congestion and improve motorist access to US 85.  The project includes intersection improvements such as the addition of two turn lanes from southbound US 85 onto Bromley Lane, the installation of new traffic lights and the realignment of turn lanes onto Bromley Lane.  Improvements at Main Street will also facilitate efficiency and safety.

KECI Colorado Inc. is the contractor for this $3.3 million project.
US 85-Bromley Project Update 4-15-14
Project Update September 2014
Crews are working on the third and final phase of construction, and the majority of construction is complte.  The median on Bromley Lane near US 85 has been installed, and Main Street's realignment is complete.  Two vacant CDOT buildings along Main Street have been demolished in order to build a new road segment, including a cul-de-sac.  The Main Street realignment makes it safer for motorists traveling along the corridor, as well as for pedestrians crossing Bromley Lane.  A new drainage system also has been implemented at the intersection and new traffic lights have been installed.

The project team is currently working to resurface US 85, add double-turn lanes from southbound US 85 onto Bromley Lane, and realign the turn lanes on eastbound and westbound Bromley Lane.

Project Update August 2014
South Main Street has been fully realigned.  Work continues to complete area improvements to the vacated site areas.  Project target for completion is Fall 2014.

Project Update May 2014
Efforts for the past two months have focused on finishing the new Main Street.  A 24-hour full road closure of Main Street from Jessup Street to Bromley Lane began April 28 and is expected to last until May 10.  This closure is for through traffic only; access to local business will be maintained.  Specifically, U-Pump-It and Peerless Tyre Co. can be accessed via Bromley Lane.  Motorists can detour around the construction zone using Jessup Street, South 4th Avenue, and Bromley Lane.

Once Main Street is completed, the project as a whole will be about 40% complete.  Construction activities will then shift to US 85, starting with storm line realignment and the addition of the turn lanes.  Some work on US 85 will occur during the night hours to minimize impacts.

Project Update April 2014
Crews have begun construction on the new Main Street.  This will be the focus for the next quarter of work.  A semi-permanent lane closure on northbound Main Street at Bromley Lane has been established for this phase of the project.  The project involves removal of about 500 feet of South Main Street and replace a paved road approximately 200 feet east of its current location. Two buildings were removed as part of this work.

Project Schedule
Work is expected to last through Fall of 2014.

Normal working hours will be from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  Some Saturday work is possible.  In March of 2014, the construction work will shift to night time hours in order to lessen impacts to traffic.  The work schedule is weather dependent.

Project Delays and Impacts
Traffic delays of up to 15 minutes can be expected during working hours.
