Backflow Prevention

Protecting Drinking Water

Brighton’s Water System delivers safe, high quality water to your home. The goal is to keep it that way. That's why the City of Brighton Utilities Department has adopted a Cross Connection Control & Backflow Prevention Program. The goal of this program is to protect the public drinking water system from the reverse flow of contaminated water.

Colorado Primary Drinking Water Regulations require the installation and maintenance of an approved backflow prevention assembly at the water service connection whenever a potential hazard is determined to exist in the customer’s system.

Utilities Department protects the water entering the drinking water system. We take pride in the high quality of the water we provide and we will continue to protect it for our residents.  As a user you must be aware about cross connections and prevent them. With cooperation, a comprehensive Cross Connection Control & Backflow Prevention Program will keep a purified water distribution system free from impurities and health hazards.

Please do your part to ensure a safe drinking water supply for yourself and everyone in Brighton.
