The Youth Services office plays an integral role in researching and developing programs for youth in Brighton and overseeing our Brighton Youth Commission. The office also coordinates a summer internship program, Brighton Youth Commission Youth Corps, participation in GradNation, and other youth-focused initiatives.
Brighton Youth Commission
The Brighton Youth Commission (BYC) is a group of dynamic youth and adults commissioned by the City of Brighton who develop ideas and put concepts into motion that support a more youth and family friendly community.
The BYC works both with the city and independently to improve Brighton for all its inhabitants, especially youth, providing youth with the opportunity to be a voice for change in their community, and creating an environment beneficial to both personal and leadership development. They are representatives for the city and their schools.
The Brighton Youth commissioners meet twice a month, participate in community events and special service projects throughout the year, and attend leadership development events several times a year.
Call for Nominations for the Adams County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Awards
The Mayors and Commissioners of Adams County are asking for nominations for the Adams County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Awards. Each year, this program recognizes young people in grades 6th-12th, or those who may not be in a school setting but are 20 years of age or younger, who have overcome personal adversity to create a positive change in their own lives or those around them. This award focuses on teenagers who have triumphed over great odds and serve as inspirations and role models for their peers.
This program provides businesses, the community and civic leaders an opportunity to actively demonstrate their support for the young people in all of our communities and recognize them for their accomplishments. Businesses may also help by making a monetary or in-kind donation.
If you know of a student who would be a good candidate to be recognized by the Brighton community, please help us identify them. Forms are available by contacting Abby Martinez, City of Brighton Youth Services, at email@example.com.
For questions about the program, please call 303-655-2186.
