2016 Brighton Citizens Academy


The Brighton Police Department is currently accepting applications for its Citizens' Police Academy. The Academy will accept 24 citizens.

Participants in the free program must be at least 18 years of age, live or work within Brighton city limits, and pass a criminal background check.

Classes for the academy will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday nights from Sept. 14 through Oct. 26 with two Saturday trips to firearms and driving facilities.

Topics covered in the academy include firearms and arrest control, driving and pursuits, crime scene investigations, victim services, and first aid/CPR. In addition to an increased understanding of police policies and procedures, each participant will receive an academy t-shirt.
