Streets & Fleet Boot Camp
The City of Brighton Streets & Fleet Department offer a citizen Operations Boot Camp. The Boot camp is an opportunity for the citizens of the City of Brighton to observe and experience first hand the role that the Streets & Fleet Department plays in the maintenance of city streets, alleys, traffic signals, signs and our large fleet of equipment and vehicles.
Who can participate?
Individual’s over the age of 18 that are residents of the City of Brighton can register for participation in the boot camp. This year’s inaugural boot camp will be limited to a total of 8 participants selected from all registrations by department personnel.
How does the Boot Camp work?
This year’s Boot Camp will be on Tuesday May 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants report to the Streets Shop at 401 E. Longs Peak St.
Participants will be divided into two groups and visit a variety of active worksites with city street operations teams conducting street maintenance, alley maintenance and traffic signal & sign maintenance work.
You will also tour both the Streets & Fleet Maintenance Divisions shops and observe ongoing street maintenance and fleet maintenance activities.
Participants will also have the opportunity to receive a full briefing and demo on several pieces of equipment utilized by street & fleet operations in conducting street & fleet maintenance work, such as; backhoes, loaders, motor graders, sweepers, bucket truck, snow plows, etc.
