Call for Sculpture Artists

The City of Brighton announces a Call for Artists for its inaugural Eye for Art-on-Loan Outdoor Sculpture Walk.  Artist submittals are being accepted through Sept 4.  This Art-on-Loan program provides sculpture artists an inaugural 18 month long display beginning in November 2017 within the Public Art Sculpture Walk at Carmichael Park.   This show opens the Brighton outdoor sculpture gallery and kicks off the Eye for Art Public Art Program that will be held annually thereafter.

The Brighton Sculpture Walk is part of the city’s Eye for Art program with an expanded gallery that surrounds City Hall. The Eye for Art program currently displays artwork from local and regional artists within the building during 16 week long exhibits. This Art-on-Loan public art program expands to local, regional and national artists.  Yearly outdoor displays will begin in 2019 at the end of this inaugural 18 month display.

The Art-on-Loan Sculpture Walk is an open theme show that encourages but is not limited to military tributes and wildlife sculpture forms for this inaugural show. Artwork may include, but is not limited to: Bronze, Steel, Wood, Fiberglass and other mediums that are suitable for outdoor public viewing.

A $500 honorarium will be awarded to the five artists selected for show.   Of the five selected, one will be reviewed by Brighton Citizens and the Eye for Art Committee to be selected for the “People’s Choice” Award of $1000.  Artwork displayed will be offered for sale to the public for the duration of the show and become candidates for permanent procurement by the City.
